1 Day Merzouga Desert Hiking

After breakfast, we leave the settlement of Merzouga and prepare our essential gear for our desert trekking trip. We will walk; camels will only be utilized to transport our belongings.

We will trek over the dunes for 2 hours to a tiny oasis where we will have time to eat and relax. Then we'll trek to Erg Chebbi's tallest dune to view the sunset before returning to the settlement.

2 Days Merzouga Desert Hiking

Day 1: We will begin our hike early in the morning and trek to the desert (we will load the camels with baggage). Today we will go to the great desert dune, which is the highest dune on the Erg Chebbi, and from there you will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire area. Then we will continue our journey to a small town for lunch and a little rest before continuing to the camp of "Berber tents" amongst the dunes for supper and the night.

Day 2: After breakfast, we will load camels and walk into the dunes, followed by lunch and a visit to Erg Chebbi's second largest dune. After ascending and admiring the view, we will go across the dunes to a location where we will dine and rest for a bit before returning to the hotel, where you will be able to have a decent wash and sleep in a hotel bed.

3-Day Merzouga Desert Hiking

Day 1: After breakfast, we walk to the desert, load the camels with our belongings, and ride directly to the tent. We will trek to the huge dune, also known as Lalla Merzuoga, which is the tallest dune on the Erg Chebbi, and from here you will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire area. Then we'll continue our journey to a small town for lunch and a rest before continuing on to the nomad camp. We'll have supper and stay the night there.

Day 2: After breakfast, we will load the camels, stroll along the dunes, and then halt for lunch and relaxation. Then we'll go through the dark desert to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Then we'll continue across the dunes until we reach the tent camp, where we'll eat dinner and spend the night in the desert.

DAY 3 :After breakfast, we will head to the dunes and climb the main dune, followed by lunch. After that, we'll head to the village, where you may spend the night in a pleasant hotel.

4 Days Merzouga Desert Hiking

Day 1: We leave in the morning after breakfast and we load our camels with all necessary stuff. We walk across the dunes of the Erg Chebbi to a place where there are trees of Tamarize in an Oued. Here we will have lunch and we continue our tour to an erg called Erg Znigue where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Our route will pass through the black desert of stones and mountains area. In that area, we will look for the shade of the Acacia trees to eat and rest a little and then we will continue the march until the dunes of the Erg Chebbi. We will spend the night in an abandoned village whose name is Merdani.

Day 3: We leave Merdani and we go through the black desert of stones, to the camp of nomadic people, where we will eat and after  we leave for our camp in the dunes .We will spend the night there.

Day 4: After the breakfast we continue our route walking through the dunes and we climb the big Dune of Erg Chibe, we will have lunch and we rest a while, then we return to the village. That night you will sleep in a bed in comfortable hotel.

5-Day Merzouga Desert Hiking

Day 1: We leave in the morning after breakfast and we load camels with necessary stuff. We walk across the dunes of the Erg Chibe to trees of Tamarize in an Oued (dry river), we will eat there and we continue our adventure to an erg called Erg Znigue, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: In the morning after breakfast we start the our tour through the black desert of stones and through the mountains heading to the mountains of Touz. We will take a break to eat and relax a little and then we will walk to the town of Taouz, where we will spend the night with Berber families, who will cook a delicious “couscous”for us.

Day 3: From Taouz we go to another village called Bega through the black desert of stones. We will stop there for lunch and you’ll have the afternoon free to visit  the village and its oasis. We will spend the night in this town sharing the evening with Berber families.

Day 4: Depart from Bega to another abandoned village near the Erg Chibe. This day we go through various types of landscapes, the dunes of Erg Chibe, and then, the black desert. On the way we will stop to eat and get some relax before we continue the route through the black desert to the village, where we will spend the night.

Day 5: From this village we will go to a small oasis in the middle of the dunes of the Erg Chibe,where we will eat and rest before we continue our tour to the village of Merzouga. That night you will sleep in a bed in comfortable hotel.

6 Days Merzouga Desert Hiking

Day 1: We start our hiking in the morning after the breakfast. We load the camels with all necessary stuff and we walk across the dunes of the Erg Chebbi to a place - trees of Tamarize in an Oued (dry river). After lunch we continue our tour to an erg called Erg Znigue where we will spend the night in desert camp.

Day 2: In the morning after breakfast we begin the route through the black desert of stones and through the mountains going towards  the mountains of Touz. After refreshing we continue to the town of Taouz, where we will spend the night with Berber families, who will prepare  a delicious “couscous”.

Day 3: From Taouz we walk to another village called Bega through the black desert of stones, we will stop in the village for  lunch and you’ll have the afternoon free to visit  oasis area. We will spend the night in this town sharing the evening with Berber families.

Day 4: Depart from Bega to an other village near the Erg Chibe, this day we go through various types of landscapes - the dunes of Erg Chibe, and the black desert. On the way we will stop to eat and relax before we continue the route through the black desert to the abandoned village, where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Today we start our trip to the black desert, to find a camp of nomadic people where we will stop to eat and rest a while. In the afternoon we will go to the dunes of the Erg Chibe and spent the night in a camp in the middle of the desert.

Day 6: We leave the camp and cross the dunes of the Erg Chibe until we reach the big dune, that we will climb to enjoy the panoramic view. We will stop on the way to eat and rest, and in the afternoon we walk to the village of Merzouga. Where we will spend the night in comfortable hotel.

Stuff we need for our desert hiking:

• You must wear good pair of shoes for walking, sleeping bag, sportswear and also winter wear . Nomad scarf can be useful to protect the head from the wind and the sun .
• Sunglasses and sunscreen, sandals ,other useful stuff as : flashlights, knives, matches.
• Please don’t forget to take a small first aid kit. A backpack and a small backpack, a plastic bag to collect your wastes, toilet paper

IMPORTANT :

Do not leave any trash when leaving desert camp. Carry a plastic bag to pick up the general wastes, because caring the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
