PRIVATE 4 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES TO MARRAKECH





Day 1: Fes - Merzouga desert


Our tour start in Fes and we’ll drive south to Ifrane and Azrou in the Middle Atlas mountains, stopping in a cedar forest to see the Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat.  Then we’ll continue through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, taking in views of the Middle-Atlas plateau noticing how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city Errachidia. After lunch there we’ll continue our journey through the Ziz valley to Rissani and Merzouga, where we stay in comfortable air-conditioned Hotel.


Day 2: Merzouga area and the Camel trek


After breakfast we’ll start exploring the area, firstly visiting the Gnawa people - originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s also the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations.  Then we go back to your hotel where your camel awaits you and after a glass of mint tea , guided by an experienced camel man you’ll begin your camel trek exploring within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you will spend your night under the stars in a traditional Berber nomad tent. Dinner will be served in the tent where you’ll spend the night.


Day 3: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges


Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards, you’ll camel-trek back to your hotel. Appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes - changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast, we’ll leave for Tinghir and Todra gorges - the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here you will have the opportunity to hike along the valley and after lunch in the heart of the gorge we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight accommodation is in a hotel in the heart of the gorge.


Day 4: Dades Gorges - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech


After breakfast in the hotel we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs - providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. We’ll stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, and then we continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa” we’ll stop for lunch at the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. After the visit of this UNESCO matrimonial historical site, now a house of the Glaoui family members - our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your riad/hotel in Marrakech, where the tour ends.
